Weavers Monarch Towelling - White

650gsm, deep loop, and the towel you notice.

Monarch is the step up from an everyday towel, and the number that explains it is 650gsm against the 490gsm of the Cardiff range. That extra weight is deep-loop cotton pile, and a longer loop means more surface area, which means more absorbency and a far plusher feel in the hand.

It is generously sized too. The bath towel is 70 x 150cm and the spa towel 90 x 170cm, which is the length that actually wraps rather than almost wrapping.

The cotton is 100% ring spun combed. Combing pulls the short fibres and impurities out before spinning, leaving a longer, stronger strand, which is why a combed cotton towel keeps its softness for its whole life instead of going scratchy after a season.

Two construction details keep it looking new. The yarn is bleached white to stay white, and there are no herringbone borders to shrink and pull the edges in, so the towel holds its shape and folds square. The hems are double stitched.

The bath mat is heavier again at 792gsm, dense enough to feel like a proper step out of the bath.

Care Instructions

Hot wash up to 60°C before first use. This gives the towel its initial shrinkage, sets the tensile strength of the fibres and removes any loom residue or oils.
