Makers UrbanSteel Folding Rollaway Bed Frame and Mattress

The spare bed that folds away and does not feel like a compromise.

Most folding beds are a last resort. This one is a proper bed that happens to fold. The frame is 2 x 2cm steel tube with a 160kg weight rating, and it comes complete with a 150mm medium density foam mattress with a quilted top, which is a real mattress rather than the thin pad these beds usually carry.

It arrives assembled. The only job is attaching the castors, and then it is ready to use.

Moving it is straightforward. It folds to 41.6cm deep, so it stores upright in a cupboard or against a wall, and two locking castors take care of getting it there. A frame retaining clip holds it closed while it is being moved, and two frame locking mechanisms hold it open once it is set up.

It's the little details that make the difference. A mattress retention bar keeps the mattress in place rather than sliding off while the bed is folded or wheeled, which is the small annoyance that makes most rollaway beds a two-person job.

Backed by a 5 year warranty, excluding misuse and general wear and tear.
