Weavers 220TC Premium Sheeting Fitted Charcoal

A fitted sheet that still fits after a year of washing.

The thing that ruins a fitted sheet is shrinkage. The corners let go, the sheet pulls off the mattress overnight, and it never sits properly again. This one is sanforised, meaning the fabric is pre-shrunk during manufacture, so almost all of the shrinking has already happened before it reaches you.

The fabric is a sturdy percale weave in 50% polyester and 50% cotton, colourfast dyed in charcoal. Cotton gives it the breathability and the feel; polyester gives it the strength and the easy-care behaviour that keeps a coloured sheet looking like itself after repeated washing.

It is cut generously across every size, which sounds like a small thing until you are trying to tuck a mean sheet under a deep mattress at eleven at night.

There is one practical detail worth knowing about: a coloured hemstitch thread at one end identifies the size at a glance, so a folded sheet in the cupboard does not have to be shaken out to work out what it is. There is also a Short Skirt Single in the range with a shallower 28cm skirt, made to suit a slimmer foam mattress.

Care Instructions

An initial hot wash of up to 70°C is recommended before first use. This enhances the weave's integrity, increases tensile strength and removes residual loom materials or oils.
